AUGUST 9TH, 1931
Nora Ebio was born on August 9, 1931, in Sorsogon, Philippines, to Andrea Diamante and Heracleo Labasbas. At the young age of seventeen, she married Ernesto Ebio, and her education was put on hold until after their first child was born. She then completed high school and went on to complete dental school.
In 1969, Nora brought her 5 daughters and 1 grandson to the United States to join Ernesto. She worked as a caregiver until her license arrived and she could begin working as a dentist, which occurred in 1978. She went on to open her own practice in Oakland, California, where she dedicated herself to the well-being of hundreds of patients over the course of more than forty years.
Diligence in her professional life did not preclude Nora from commitment to her family. On the contrary, her dedication to her children and grandchildren was absolute. She enjoyed being at the heart of all family activities and was always preoccupied with the next party, especially what everyone was going to eat.
Nora poured herself into her family, as well as her practice, leaving little time for herself. Later in life, she found time to travel to Europe, Mexico, and the Philippines. She also discovered a love for ballroom dancing when she was in her sixties and even received awards for her newfound talent. She continued to dance well into her eighties.
